#BAMBOOWASTELAND: MORPHO GALLERY
We are so excited to announce that we have 3 pieces from the Bamboo Wasteland project that will be shown in the 13th Annual Emerging Artists Exhibition at Morpho Gallery in Chicago during the dates of February 16 - March 1. This is the first gallery exhibition that Bamboo Wasteland has been invited to participate in and we could not be more thrilled to bring the body-positive project to the viewing public for the first time. We have decided that any proceeds collected from gallery sales will be recirculated back into the project as we are trying to travel to a couple cities outside our homebase this year. Please share this information with any of your friends that will be in the Chicago area over the exhibition dates.
to the moon,
June Ann D'Angelo

#gjmTFP: TRADE FOR PERSPECTIVE #1
TRADE FOR PERSPECTIVE
NOTE FROM EDITOR: opinions are like assholes...everyone has them and we want to see them. the opinions, that is. unless you would also like to show us your asshole and then we are completely amenable to that option as well. however, in this new series, the curator, Steve Yancey, has asked people to share their experiences with nude art. whether it be someone's first shoot or their hundredth or if it was their own experience or a loved one, we believe that the only way to normalize body image is to get that discussion going. if you would like to contribute your own experience which will be posted ANONYMOUSLY, please email your words of any length to: tothemoon@geminijunemoon.com.
NOTE FROM CURATOR (STEVE YANCEY): For the last several years I have been doing private boudoir and nude photoshoots for people that are not “models” and most of the time I could tell how nervous and scared they were to bare themselves in front of the camera and photographer. The reasons are varied but the emotions usually the same. To be able to observe a person go from being reserved and cautious to open and empowered during the shoot has always given me joy. I could only hypothesize about the emotions going through the subjects mind so I recently asked people that I have worked with to share the experience with me, below is what they had to say.
TFP #1
To do a " nude" photo shoot , was one of the best things I did. This helped me get so much self confidence.
Months ago, the thought of posing naked, nude, in front of a camera was the hardest and scariest thing to do. All these things are going through your mind, do I look good enough, can I do this.... and someone else is gonna c u naked.
The nerves are very much the hardest thing to get over.
But as u are doing the shoot, u have to know that what u r doing is fun, it's art, and that nude is not a bad thing.
To have a photographer , that knows what he/ she is doing is key, they help relax u , and make it fun.
The end result of these pics are amazing, and show each person just how beautiful, and amazing you are.
From my first shoot, pics, to my most recent pics..... what a difference.. my confidence level is higher, I know what I am doing is ok, and naked/ nude is not a bad thing. I enjoy myself and have fun doing it.
I would recommend that everyone do this....
you have more confidence and learn to love yourself for you.

Photography by Natasha Mia Turner
A photographic study of feminism, looking into themes of sexuality, gender and taboo. Exploring the over-sexualization of young females, the identity and gender of transgender males and the effect female clothes can have on transvestite males and how it transforms their confidence and persona. This will be posted as a 3-part series with this being the first post focused on the over-sexualization of young females.

#FINDINGMOON1: LOWER ROCK CREEK TRAIL
the geminijunemoon team set out with some of your favorite #MOONmodels and photographers to Lower Rock Creek Trail outside of Fredericktown, MO this past Saturday in hopes to find the (geminijune)moon.
the moon is one of those places you search for but never find...it's not tangible and Apple maps cannot take you there. it's a mindset. it's that creative little nook and cranny tucked behind some major globs of anatomy in that skull of yours. it projects as confidence and clarity. no fucks given here, kids.
our hiking shoot had #MOONmodels changing on the trails into bodysuits and Chase & Hunter shirts and some down to their very own MOONsuits themselves. (FYI...our birthday suits are called MOONsuits...duh) It's a good thing we were on an unmarked trail that people barely traverse. after our hike shoot, the MOONmodels changed and headed over to The Pig BBQ for a few delicious bites and a few shots and even had some of our awesome severs pop in our shots!

#MOONX: REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS ARE GLOBAL (PHOTOS BY NATASHA MIA TURNER)
REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS ARE GLOBAL
Photography by Natasha Mia Turner
As the women of America protest for Planned Parenthood funding and reproductive health coverage and allowance in a new healthcare plan, women all around the globe are battling the patriarchal stronghold on reproductive rights. For 2017 International Women's Day, art and design student, Natasha Mia Turner, set out in Manchester, UK to capture one of these protests on 35mm film that will hopefully help draw momentum towards the 'Repeal the 8th' movement. This movement is in response to the 8th Amendment added to Ireland's constitution in 1983 (the year I was born) that criminalized women who had abortions (unless mother's life was at harm)...and house them behind bars for up to 14 years (women faced life imprisonment up to 2013).
In these photos, we find the many faces of protest. Mothers, fathers, daughters and sons of all ages gathered to let their voices be heard and it is important to remember that this is a global fight of women everywhere and not just in our city or our state or even our country. As a leading nation, we must stand up and be heard and demand our reproductive rights, so that other countries can follow precedent. We must fight GLOBALLY!
Thank you, Natasha, for capturing this important event and allowing your art to bring the discussion of reproductive rights to everyone.
